Founder & CEO
Brett is the founder and Managing Partner for The CFO Suite. Previously, Brett was a founding partner of The Controller Group (“TCG”), an innovative professional services firm delivering high quality accounting, financial and information technology solutions to the Dallas, Austin and Houston markets. Under Brett’s strategic and operational leadership, TCG was honored as a two time winner in the Dallas 100, placing 13th and 11th. TCG successfully merged with Tatum, LLC in 2006 where Brett played an integral role in developing a national presence for the consulting practice.
Brett began his career with Ernst & Young in the UK gaining a broad range of experience within the Assurance practice before transferring to the Dallas office where he focused on delivery within E&Y’s Entrepreneurial Services.
Brett graduated from the University of Warwick in the UK and is a Chartered Accountant. He currently serves on the advisory board for Civitas Capital Management, LLC, a specialty financial services and investment management company. He is also a Charter member of the Philanthropy Council of the North Texas Food Bank.
Kathy is a Managing Partner for The CFO Suite. Previously, Kathy was a Managing Partner with The Controller Group where she led the Risk and Controls practice. When TCG merged with Tatum, Kathy became the National Practice Leader of Tatum’s Internal Control and Risk Solutions Practice where she was a frequent speaker and author on the topic of compliance. During her career she has provided leadership over numerous and varied consulting engagements including process improvement, integration support and project management, audit preparation, and other accounting & finance and internal audit related services.
Kathy also spent ten years with the Assurance and Advisory practice of Ernst & Young, serving both public and private audit clients in a variety of industries. She was a team leader for the design and development of firm-wide training on the global audit methodology including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and consulted on the design and development of global education relating to auditing, internal controls documentation and testing.
Kathy graduated cum laude with a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Texas. Kathy is also on the advisory board of UTA department of accounting.
Melanie was made Partner in 2015 after joining The CFO Suite as Director of Recruiting Services in 2013. She has been recruiting finance, accounting and executive talent in the DFW market for over 14 years, recognized through numerous awards for her outstanding recruiting and business development achievements. Melanie began her professional career in public accounting with both Andersen and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she earned her CPA. This experience allows her to combine a technical background with recruiting excellence to provide her clients greater insight into their needs utilizing a consultative perspective.
Melanie has been instrumental in the growth of our Executive Search services and will continue to build this practice as part of our continued growth. During her tenure with us, our clients and friends of the firm have benefited from Melanie’s network, persistence and resolve in fulfilling their financial and accounting needs.
Melanie is currently on the Board of Women’s Finance Exchange of Dallas and serves on auxiliary boards for Children’s Medical Center and Community Partners of Dallas. Melanie graduated from University of Oklahoma with a BBA in accounting and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Kim joined The CFO Suite as a Director of Client Services in 2015 to accelerate the consultative staffing services of our Houston office. Kim was previously with a national consulting firm as a top Business Development Manager and consistently received numerous accolades including top 3 sales person nationwide and being honored consistently within the firms President’s Club and Rookie of the Year!
Kim entered the world of Finance and Accounting recruitment in Sales and Business Development in 1998. She has worked in Houston and the surrounding areas supporting her clients with their key initiatives and interim needs during this entire period. Kim has made a positive impact on many business areas and key industries including Healthcare, Banking, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Energy, and E&P. Kim joined The CFO Suite to be able to work closely with C-Suite to deliver exceptional service and resources for projects, interim and consultative staffing and Executive search needs.
Kim is an active member of the National Charity League with her daughter, Meghan. Kim graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Sabiha McConnell joined The CFO Suite as a Director of Advisory Services in our Houston office.
Sabiha was previously with a national accounting and finance consulting firm where she managed all aspects of practice development, client service, recruiting and staff development. She consistently received awards for Top Delivery Person of the Year and her team was always in the nation’s top 3 as Office of the Year.
Sabiha brings over 20 years public accounting and consulting experience across various industries, including manufacturing, oil field services, retail, oil and gas, and energy. Her areas of focus include SEC reporting, technical accounting, internal controls and internal audit, pre-audit and IPO readiness, system implementations, and business process transformation and improvement. Sabiha’s technical background, experience, and aptitude allow her to help clients both strategically and tactically with process improvements and project management.
Sabiha graduated cum laude with a BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Texas.
Kristy Boles joined The CFO Suite as a Recruiting Director in 2014 and leads the Houston office. Kristi was previously with a national recruiting firm as an Executive Finance and Accounting Recruiter. During her tenure and while managing a team of five, she was consistently ranked in the top 10% of her national peer group.
Kristy began her career in Dallas but has spent the last 10 years in Houston focused on serving clients in a variety of industries such as Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Energy, and E&P companies. Kristy joined The CFO Suite to be able to serve the C-Suite and provide greater value to her clients beyond simple and transactional search.
Kristy graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science.
Suzanne joined The CFO Suite as a Director of Client Services in 2018 to build upon the success of the consulting & interim staffing services of the Dallas-Ft Worth Office. Suzanne has 13 years of staffing sales experience, most recently as a Senior Account Manager with a Boston based consulting firm. There she consistently received many accolades including the President’s Club Award as one of a few nationally recognized highest grossing sales managers.
Suzanne entered the world of Finance and Accounting Staffing in 2005 and has supported her clients in the Dallas-Ft Worth area for over 10 years. In addition Suzanne worked at an Oracle Partner Firm for over 5 years supporting outside sales for software and services. During that time she also lead their new Business Intelligence practice successfully leading a team of five consultants. She makes her impact felt by working closely with the C-Suite and delivering exceptional service and the right talent for their needs.
Suzanne resides in Flower Mound, Texas with her husband, son and daughter. She is an active member of the Lantana Ladies League in her community and takes part in many charitable events in the area.
Gary Bumgarner joined the CFO Suite as a Recruiting Manager in 2016. Gary’s experience includes four years with a national recruiting firm where he was the top local producer for three consecutive years. Most recently Gary worked in an executive recruiting position focusing on senior level job searches with a retained search firm.
Gary spent the first fifteen years of his career in accounting, specifically in the investment management industry. His roles included various accounting positions with mutual and hedge fund companies including Invesco and AIG. Ultimately, he realized that his true passion was to connect with people and entered the search industry in 2011.
Gary has lived in Houston since 1998, but is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He resides in Sugar Land, Texas with his wife and three daughters. Gary received his B.S. in Accounting from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.
Sarah Collins joined the firm as a Recruiting Manager in our Houston office in June 2017. She has specialized in all aspects of Sales & Recruiting, specifically for Accounting & Finance positions, for 6 years. She was a top producer at her previous role, winning multiple sales awards as well as the firm’s highest Outstanding Service Award in 2014 given to the company MVP for that year.
Sarah’s main focus has been within the Oil & Gas, Energy, E&P and Real Estate Industries in the Houston area as well as outside of Texas. Prior to her Executive Search career she enjoyed a successful Business Development role within the Hospitality and Oil Industries.
She graduated from Texas Tech University with her Bachelors of Science in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management.
Brittany joined the CFO Suite as a Recruiter in May 2013. Brittany’s previous experience includes five years as a Human Resource Specialist involved in all aspects and development of the HR division within the Texas Water Development Board.
Prior to this Brittany was an Executive Assistant within a national consulting firm working with the recruiting team to support their efforts including performing prescreens, coordinating resources, scheduling client / candidate interviews and debriefs. She joined The CFO Suite to not only maximize this experience but to also be an advocate and communication channel for her candidates.
Lynn Mazur joined The CFO Suite as a Recruiting Manager in 2018 dedicated to our talent management within our consultative and interim staffing solutions practice. She has over 20 years’ experience focused on Finance and Accounting search in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
An East Coast native, Lynn graduated from University of Maryland and moved to Dallas in 1994 and played a key role in growing a newly established contract division for a global recruiting firm. She was promoted twice to leadership roles and earned President’s Club honors for both individual and management production.
In 1999, Lynn joined the founding partners of an executive search firm to help establish their footprint in Dallas and was recognized as Rookie of the Year. Her focus included financial recruiting, creating and executing branding initiatives, as well as internal hiring over a 10-year period of high growth. After an acquisition of the firm, she was instrumental in implementing the success of Texas strategies on a national basis.
Lynn is an active member of the Frisco community, serving with her teenage children on Young Men’s Service League and National Charity League.
Jaime Chisolm joined the firm as a Recruiting Manager in our Houston office in 2018. Jaime brings with her 7 years of finance and accounting recruiting experience solely in the Houston market.
While she started out in Executive Search, Jaime has since focused and now thrives in the consulting and project recruiting niche. She has specialized in the E&P, Manufacturing, Energy, Software and Biotechnology industries. Her work experience also includes lecturing on various subjects including Managing Human Resources, Leadership and Marketing for San Jacinto College.
Jaime earned her undergrad at Texas A&M University in History / Business Admin and has her MBA, Business Administration from the University of Louisiana.
Kelly Rao joined us as a Recruiting Manager in our Dallas office during 2017. Kelly brings over 20 years of extensive experience working directly with C-level executives within finance, marketing and business growth and development.
Kelly began her career in Executive Search in 2015 where she quickly became a valued business partner, helping companies of all sizes source, attract and hire top talent to gain competitive advantage and fuel company growth. Her years of marketing experience provide a unique ability to effectively communicate with clients and candidates alike, resulting in superior service.
Managing Director & Practice Lead
Leonel De Leon is the Managing Director & Practice Lead for Executive Search with over 10 years of retained search experience and 18 years of total executive recruiting experience. His previous employers include the Big 4, Korn Ferry, a Premier Global Bank and a Fortune 100 company.
Leonel’s executive search experience includes placing C-Suite executives and senior leaders in Finance & Accounting roles in North & South America with a client base including the top global brands (Fortune 15-500) ranging from Global Banks; Big 4; Top-tier consulting firms; Private equity/Venture Capital firms and Start-ups. Leon holds a Masters of Arts degree, in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University.
Anna Parrish joined The CFO Suite as Operations Manager in 2016. Anna’s previous experience includes 16 years of working in the heart of the business. She brings to The CFO Suite her creativity, desire to improve processes and her meticulous and organized nature. She is focused on operations, marketing and process improvement, providing whatever support the team needs to be successful for our employees, candidates and clients.
Prior to this Anna was a project manager within a global executive retained search firm providing comprehensive search management and administrative support. Anna began her career in promotional marketing then moved into operations management for an internet retailer. For the last 7 years Anna has supported a recruiting and operations team for both internal corporate recruiting and executive retained search.
Anna graduated with a BA from the University of North Texas and is actively involved in a number of charitable causes including “Stop Hunger Now” and “Carter BloodCare”.
